Aline Gargis

Aline Gargis of Sheffield, AL passed away Thursday, October 5, 2017 at Glenwood Rehab at the age of 85. She was born May 2, 1932 and lived most of her life in Colbert County Alabama. Visitation will be Sunday, October 8, 2017 from 12:30- 2 pm at Colbert Memorial Chapel with service to follow in the chapel. Burial will be in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.  Brother Larry Kilpatrick and Gerald Sockwell will officiate. She was a blessed member of our Lord’s Church the Church of Christ having been added to the Church by Jesus Christ at the St. Louis Ave congregation in Sheffield, then serving faithfully for over 40 years at the Westside congregation in Sheffield and her last years at the Cox Boulevard congregation in Sheffield. She loved God and Savior Jesus Christ and dedicated her life in Christian service. She especially loved her sewing buddies at Cox Boulevard.   Aline was devoted to her husband of 64 years, Donald Gargis and children, Kyle Gargis (Sheffield) and Chad Gargis (deceased).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nathan and Edna Letson; son, Chad Gargis; brothers, William, Jasper, and JD Letson; sisters, Vivian Minor and Laura Bond.

She is survived by her husband, Donald Gargis; son, Kyle Gargis; granddaughter, Kaitlin Gargis; precious great grandchildren, Zayden and Raleigh Gargis; sister, Louise Allen; loving nieces, Brenda Lowery and Anglia Nichols, many cousins and other loving family members, church brothers and sisters, and a host of friends.

Alines motto was to do as much as she could, the best she could, as long as she could, which she lived up to all her adult life. Her working history includes telephone operator, working in the office of Dr. Lester Hibbett and Jewelry sales.

Pallbearers will be Church members and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Ricky Irons, Dr. John Young, Sandy Prewitt, James Fields, and the Northwest Cancer Center Doctors.

Colbert Memorial Chapel is assisting the family.
