Barbara Jordan Obituary

Barbara E. Jordan, 89, of Leighton passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at Florence Nursing Home. Visitation will be Sunday, April 15, 2018 from 4-6 p.m. at Colbert Memorial Chapel. Funeral will be Monday, April 16, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Old Brick Presbyterian Church, with Brother Carl Malm officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

After college Barbara worked several years for General Electric Credit Corp. She was a dedicated and faithful member of Old Brick Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday school and served as church secretary for over 40 years. She was an Honorary Life Member of Presbyterian Women. Barbara was a kind and loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a blessing and inspiration to all who knew her.

She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Charles O. Jordan; her parents, Robert Earl and Sadie Gammill; brother, Robert Allison Gammill (Kathryn); brothers-in-law, William Hoover Jordan (Blanche), Norman E. Jordan (Reba) and sister-in-law Katie Lee Myhan (Bobby).Survivors are daughter, Barbara J.Jordan, Boise, Idaho; son, Charlie Jordan and wife, Alda, Muscle Shoals; brother, Lt. Col. Gerald H. Gammill (Patt), Pegosa Springs, Co; granddaughters, Andrea Virnau (Bobby), Tanya Crews (David) and great grandchildren, Ryan Virnau, Lauren Virnau, Cole, Weston and Sean Crews, all of Houston, Texas.

Family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Florence Nursing and Rehab for their care and support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Old Brick Presbyterian Church or a charity of your choice.
