Billy Gene Highfield, 85, of Sheffield, AL passed away Sunday, February 26, 2017. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 1, 2017 from 11-1 p.m. at Colbert Memorial Chapel with service to follow at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel. Brother Rodney Shewart and Brother Ronny Poag will be officiating the service. Burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens. He was a member of York Terrace Baptist Church. He loved his family and enjoyed gardening, New York Yankees and Alabama Crimson Tide.
He is preceded in death by parents, brothers, and sisters.
Survivors are his wife of 61 years, Betty Highfield; children, Gary Highfield (Shannon) and Dan Highfield (Tammy); granddaughter, Hope Highfield; grandsons, Chris Highfield and Nick Highfield (Emily); step grandsons, Kyle, Zack, and Nick Hester; great grandsons, Parker Highfield and Owen Highfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Chris Highfield, Nick Highfield, Kyle Hester, Zack Hester, Nick Hester, and Eddie August. His beloved nephews will be honorary pallbearers.
