Charles Merrill “Bud” Carruth, age 84, of Tuscumbia, AL passed away Monday, May 09, 2016. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 11, 2016 from 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. at Colbert Memorial Chapel; with service to follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel. Burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens. Brother Sam Wallace and Brother Darrell Pace will be officiating. Mr. Carruth was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Tuscumbia, AL. He was a member of Tuscumbia Lions Club acting as Treasurer and a U.S. Navy Veteran of Korean War. Charles loved his daughters, grandchildren, greats, and his sons-in-law. He retired from Shoals Hospital as a financial Manager after 20 plus years of loyal service. Daddy was an avid gardener and enjoyed yard work and his flowers.
Preceded in death by parents, Benjamin Franklin Carruth, Sr. and Laura Willis Carruth; wife, Betty Jean Smith Carruth; grandson, Christopher Wallace; brothers, Benjamin Franklin Carruth, Jr., Gerald Maurice Carruth; sisters. Getha Mae Carruth and Jackie Bevis.
Survivors are daughters, Alison C. Pigg (Tommy) of Florence, AL, and Susan C. Wallace (Mike) of Trinity, AL; sister, Alda Carruth Jordan (Charlie) of Birmingham, AL; grandchildren, Rebekah Pigg Miller (Richard) of Leeds, AL, Thomas Andrew Pigg (Kayla) of Birmingham, AL, Samuel, Seth and Matthew Wallace all of Trinity, AL. greats, Jack, Avery, Kendall Miller, all of Leeds, AL, and a host of loving nieces, nephews and other special family members. He was lovingly called “Daddee” and “Dee”.
Pallbearers are Andrew Pigg, Samuel Wallace, Seth Wallace, Matthew Wallace, Richard Miller, and Gene Kelsey.
