Doris Nell Coan, age 87, of Leighton, AL passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2016. Visitation will be Saturday, February 13, 2016 from 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. at Colbert Memorial Chapel; with service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Poplar Creek. Mrs. Coan was a member of Leighton Church of Christ and retired from TVA after five years of loyal service.Doris was owner/operator of Coan’s Farm Supply in Franklin County, AL for three years, avid Gardener and loved her flowers, and keeping her yard.
Preceded in death by husband, Horace L. Coan, brothers, Beryl, Buford, Olen and Otha Vandiver; sisters, Jessie Hallmark, Ruby Kidd, Maye Hearn, Jean Flakes, and Edna Robbins.
Survivors are sons, Larry Coan (Debbie), Lanny Coan (Elaine), and Norma Coan (Hoyt Garrison); brothers, Cecil Vandiver and Edward Vandiver; grandchildren, Paige Grabryan, Allison Dewberry (Roderick), and Matthew Carpenter (Ashley); great grandchildren, Macaven, Brynne, Mattley, and Brody; host of loving nieces and nephews and other family members.
Pallbearers are family and friends.
A special thanks to full staff of Cottage of Shoals and loving sitters Sharon Gilbert, Brenda Cole and Edith Warren for the wonderful care given to our dear mother.
