Hubert Burden

Hubert “Cleavon” Burden, 76, of Town Creek, AL passed away Saturday, March 11, 2017. Visitation will be from 11-1 p.m. at Bethany Baptist Church on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 with Bro. Hollis Retherford officiating the service at 1pm. Burial will follow in Bethany Baptist Cemetery (Blackground Cemetery) of Town Creek. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church for 40 plus years. He was a member of Town Creek Masonic Lodge #361 and held memberships with the Shriners and the Scottish Rites. Cleavon loved his family and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a loving husband to Suzie, being her best friend for many years. His grandchildren affectionately called him “Papa Cleav.”

Hubert was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Lela Burden.

He is survived by his wife of 26 wonderful years, Nancy “Suzie” Burden; sons, Steven Lamar Burden (Melanie Laree), Andy Burden (Tina) Thomas Cleavon Burden (Gina), and Stacy Laney Burden (Nancy); daughter, Suzanne Lynn Burden; Step-sons; Craig Young, and Tony Young (Donna); brothers, Thaniel (JoAnn), and Garland (Dianna); sisters, Thelma Dawson, and Methel Posey; grandchildren, Cody, Whitney, Jadyn, Jasmine, Drew, Taylor, Blake, Adam, Kayla, Harrison, Laura, Devin, Logan, Dustin, Justin, Tanner, Megan, Tatum, and Trystan; seven great grandchildren, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and other family members.

His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
