Mrs. Joan Marie Davis Inman passed from this life on May 23, 2017. She was a force of nature, fierce, loyal and loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Joan was a dedicated nurse for more than 30 years. Visitation will be Friday, May 26, 2017 from 11-1 p.m. at Colbert Memorial Chapel with service to follow in the chapel at 1 p.m.  Burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens. Rev. Scott Coats will be officiating.

Joan was preceded in death by her father, Carl Davis; mother, Hilda Davis; beloved grandmother, Mary Ethel Holland; brother, Carl Davis, Jr.; husband of 21 years, Archie Inman , honorary sister Loretta Cosby and her best friend and traveling companion of more than 30 years, William D. Nelson. She is survived by her children; Connie J. Inman, John D. Inman, and Jeffrey A. Inman; brother, Thomas Davis, and sisters, Bonnie Davis and Ginger Davis; cherished granddaughters, Brinna Brown Hunter (Luke), Jamie E. Brown, and Kathryn M. Inman and great grandchildren, Angela and Christopher; special nephews, Thomas Davis, Jr. and Scott Lee Davis and very special great-niece, Cheyenne Beaune. Joan had many “adopted” children who will miss her as well as a host of family and friends and her beloved pets, Buddy and Lucky. Joan was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 4919 in Sheffield, AL. She loved the monthly trips to the VA Hospital in Tuscaloosa. She loved planning the parties and activities for them. There will never be another like her. She always did things her own way. She was a strong-willed independent woman raising three teenagers on her own. Mom’s first love was family, but traveling was her passion, collecting antiques and a good bingo game in Corinth, M.S. but her favorite get away was Tunica. She was her happiest sitting between two machines.

Pallbearers are Steve Davis, Ledford Brown, Zach Davis, Mac Aday, Jeff Cosby and Mark Pyle.

The family would like to express their thanks to Dr. Brian Richards and staff for all the love and attention given to our mom over the past year. They would also like to thank Keller Hospice, Ann Jeffreys, Melinda Smith, and Grace Gunn for their unfailing support of our mom and for our family over these last few weeks.

In lieu of flowers please make donation to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital or the Wounded Warrior Project.
