Kevin James Stringer, 20, of Spring Valley, passed away early Sunday morning, December 17, 2017. Visitation for friends will be Tuesday, December 19th from 5-8 P.M. at Colbert Memorial Chapel. The funeral service will be Wednesday, December 20th at 11 A.M. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Colbert Memorial Gardens. Brother Shane Swinney will officiate the service.

Kevin was a loving person who enjoyed helping family, friends, and even strangers. He had a strong and special bond with his younger brother, Justin. Kevin was a Nursing Student at Northwest-Shoals Community College. He worked at Helen Keller Hospital as a Lab Tech.

His passion was working on cars as well as weight training, hunting, and music. In 1997 he was the first baby born on January 1st in Colbert County. Kevin was of the Baptist faith and was saved on April 20, 2011, stating “I had the greatest night ever. I WAS SAVED!” His unknown talent was his gift of drawing and sketching.

Kevin was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, James B. Stringer; and maternal grandparents, Stefan and Lena Pittner.

He is survived by his parents, Steven and Regina Stringer; brother, Justin Stringer; paternal grandmother, Methel Stringer; as well as a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Pallbearers will be Steven Stringer, Justin Stringer, Thomas Pendergrast, Tony Retherford, Ty Hipps, and Zack Bracken.

Honorary pallbearers will be friends and family.

Colbert Memorial Chapel is assisting the family.
