Mary Alice (Gargis) Harris, 99, of Muscle Shoals, AL, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2017. Visitation will be Sunday, March 26, 2017 from 1 PM-2 PM at Colbert Memorial Chapel with service to follow at 2 PM in the chapel. Rev. Bryan McIntyre will be officiating the service. Burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens. She was a lifelong native of Colbert County, and a graduate of Colbert County High School, where she was the very first editor for the school yearbook. She was a member of Shady Grove Methodist Church and played the piano for Lakeview Highland Methodist Church.
Mrs. Harris was preceded in death by husband, William Howard Harris; parents, Rose Ella and Henry Gargis; sister, Sallie Mae McMillan; brothers, Howell Gargis, Hartwell Gargis, Richard Gargis, Reeder Gargis, Bud Gargis, and Will Gargis.
Survivors are “son” Robert J. “Bobby” Harris (Sabrina), and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Jackie Gargis, David Gargis, Phil Gargis, Hart Gargis, Patrick Harris, and Chase Bowman. Honorary pallbearers are Kenny Gargis and Chris Moss.
The family wishes to thank Sammi and Angie with Compassus Hospice, as well as the staff and caregivers at Keller Landing. Also, they request that in lieu of flowers donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, or the charity of your choice.
