David Michael Spires

David Michael Spires, 61, of Russellville, passed away on Friday, May 18, 2018, at Mitchell-Hollingsworth Nursing Home after an extended illness.  Visitation will be Monday, June 4, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. in the chapel at Colbert Memorial Chapel.  The funeral service will immediately follow and will be conducted by Pastor Steven McAlister.  Burial will be at Franklin Memory Gardens.

David was a member of the Baptist church.  He was a loving son and brother who was always ready to help those in need and will be missed greatly by his family and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Onus Franklin Spires and Betty Pounders Spires.  Survivors include his sister, Brenda Spires, brothers Roger Spires, Danny Spires (Sherry) and Frank Spires (Gail).  He was also survived by nieces and nephews, Ray Landers, Carrie King (Will), Jacob Spires (Shrie), Sarah Grigsby (Jonathan), Phillip Spires (Angie), Mandy Blakely (Jeremy) and Jason Spires (Kristen), as well an abundance of loving great-nieces and great-nephews.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

The family extends special thanks to all the staff at Mitchell-Hollingsworth Nursing Home, to Amedisys Hospice of Florence, his nurse Heather Hill and aide Stephanie Lambert.  The brothers also extend a special thanks to their sister Brenda, who lovingly spent countless hours serving sacrificially as his guardian and caregiver.
