Faye Stanley Powell

Faye Stanley Powell, 77, of Mountain Brook, AL, passed away at home on March 29, 2017, following a brief illness.  She was born February 21, 1940, daughter of the late Alma Masterson Stanley and Hubert Roy Stanley of Tuscumbia, AL. 

Preceding her in death was her son, Scott Matthew Powell.  Survivors are her husband of 52 years, Dr. James Orlis Powell; daughter, Amanda Powell Zorovich (Andy), Gurley, AL; daughter-in-law Renee Baer Powell, Cary, NC; sisters Sharlene Counts, Tuscumbia; Brenda Goebel, Pensacola, FL; eight grandchildren, C.J. and Riley Powell; Paul, Sarah, James, Catherine, Clare, and Leo Zorovich; and numerous friends and family.

Faye lived a full, active life.  She loved gardening and was a member of Cherokee Garden Club. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, sewing, water and snow skiing, traveling, exercise classes at her church and riding her Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

Faye and husband Jim had the good fortune to see much of the world, visiting all seven continents and numerous countries.

The family extends its appreciation to the staff at Grandview Medical Center, Fair Haven Rehabilitation Center and Hospice.

Services will be held Saturday, April 1, 2017, at Colbert Memorial Chapel, Tuscumbia.  Visitation will be from 12:00-2:00 p.m.  Service at 2:00 p.m. with burial following in Colbert Memorial Gardens. Reverend Anthony B. Counts will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or another charity of your choice.

Colbert Memorial Chapel is assisting the family.
