James Allen Stokes

James Allen Stokes, 70, of Muscle Shoals, Al passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2018. Visitation will be Friday, April 20, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. at Hope Church and Saturday, April 21, 2018 from 10-11 a.m. The Funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. He was a member of Hope Church. Sunil Jessy and Greg Woodall will be officiating. Burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens. He retired from TVA after 25 plus years of loyal service. James was a veteran of The United States Army where he received The Bronze Star for his courageous service during the Vietnam War.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Wilma Stokes, Charles Seale, Lucille Burleson.

Survivors are his wife of 45 wonderful years, Jo Ann Stokes; daughters, Melissa Holder (Toby), and Shelley Mahaffey (Jason); brothers, Jack Hillensbeck (Sherry) and Doug Hillensbeck (Angie); sisters, Caroline James (Dan), Peggy Copeland (Dan), Sharon Miller (Alan), Valerie Adkins, and Donna Basken; grandchildren, Tyler Mahaffey, James Webb Holder, and Madison Mahaffey; host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.

Pallbearers will be Irl Parks, Ronnie Higden, Tommy Burcham, Wayne Evans, Tommy Marlor, Bobby Isbell, and Eddie Hicks.

In lieu of flowers, make donations to North Alabama Cancer Center at 101 Dr. W H Blake Jr Dr, Muscle Shoals, AL 35661.
