He was preceded in death by his parents, John Hammond and Elma Norman; sisters, Thelma Hammond and Sandra Gossite; sons, Shelton Hammond and Greg Hammond.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Hammond; sons, Johnny Hammond, Jason Hammond, and Joshua Hammond; stepdaughter, Sherry Storey; stepsons, Roger Byrd and Timothy Byrd; grandchildren, Alexsander Hammond, William Hammond, Paris Hammond, Montana Hammond, Jasmine Hammond, and Elizabeth Hammond; step grandchildren, April Byrd, Amber Page, and Robert Hill; step great grandchildren, Trishton Vaughn, Braden McMurry, Savannah Page- Rivera, Autumn Conley, and Layla Hill; brother, Randall Hammond; sisters, Diane Hammond and Patty Casey.
