Martha Frances Ayers, of Russellville, AL went to be with her Lord, August 23, 2018, at the age of 75 after a brief illness. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends that loved her dearly. Martha was an active member of Faith Baptist Church where she loved her church family but loved the Lord even more. She loved listening to and singing gospel music even up to her last days where she could be heard from the next room singing or humming an old gospel hymn. Visitation was Saturday, August 25, 2018 from 5-7 p.m. at Colbert Memorial Chapel. Service will be at Sunday, August 26, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel. Brother Victor Bracken and Brother Phillip Potter will be officiating. Burial will be in Poplar Creek Cemetery.
Martha is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, James Ayers; sons, Wade Ayers (Treisa) and Heath Ayers (Amy); daughter, Darlene King (Ronald); half-brother, Troy Batey; half-sisters, Bernice Medley and Teresa Robinson; grandchildren, Jessica Nichols (Aaron), Heather Ayers, Jacob Ayers (Shaela), Kaylie Hamby (Dalton); great grandchildren, Karrah, Kayden, Levi and Haygen; host of nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
Martha is preceded in death by her Grandparents, George and Maudie Riley whom she called mom and dad; mother, Mattie Dodd; half-brothers, Randy, Ronnie, and Lonnie Batey.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all her friends and church family, Kindred Hospice and Staff of North Alabama Cancer Center for all their support and prayers.
