Nora Katherine Burden

Nora Katherine Burden, 88, of Tuscumbia, passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2017. Visitation will be Sunday, August 13, 2017 from 1:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. at Colbert Memorial, Tuscumbia, with the Funeral Service to follow at 3:00 P.M. Brother Charlie James and Brother Ted Vafeas will be officiating the service.

Nora was a member of Hatton Baptist Church. She volunteered as a Pink lady at Helen Keller Hospital after retiring from Farmers Home Gin, where she completed 19 years of loyal service. It was her great joy to help the farmers. Nora loved to travel and enjoyed many church trips with her church family and friends. Her favorite destination was the Smokey Mountains. This past year Nora resided at Cottage of the Shoals. The family sends special thanks to the CNA’s and nurses who took very good care of her and her many friends at Cottage.

She was preceded in death by her parents, McKinley and Catherine Vandiver;  step-mother, Grace Vandiver ; husbands, Alton Hodges and Ray W. Burden; grandson, Jeff Uhlman; step-granddaughter, Cindy Walton.

She is survived by daughter, Glenda A. Uhlman (Jimmy); step-sons, Jimmy Ray Burden (Vonda) and Steve Burden (Linda); grandchildren, Amy (Phillip), Kelli, Kevin (Kelly), and Adam; step grandchildren, Junior (Sonia), Michael-Dale (Julia), Nancy (Ray), Blake (Keri), Jack (Melissa), and Jennifer (Brian); 9 great-grandchildren and 13 step-great-grandchildren; and special loving caregiver and friend, Carliss Egbon.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Uhlman, Adam Uhlman, Lance Uhlman, Kenric Crosswhite, Cory Kuykendall, and Todd Kuykendall.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hatton Baptist Church Building Fund at 2105 Hatton School Rd, Leighton, AL 35646.
