Stella M. Black

Stella M. Black, 87, of Tuscumbia, AL went to be with her heavenly father on Sunday, June 25, 2017 and with her mother who died when she was 1 ½ years old. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 28, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Colbert Memorial Chapel with service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Officiating will be Brother David Conley and Brother Larry Lewey. Burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens. She was a member of Chapel Hill Church of Christ and attended Valdosta Church of Christ for the last four years.

Stella was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Mamie Howard; husband, Odis E. Black; two brothers; one sister; two daughters; and two son-in-law’s.

Survivors are her son, Paul E. Black (Cindy); daughters, Cathy Mashburn (Dannie); Paula E. White (Steve, deceased), and April M. Blankenship (Michael ); 9 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and 6 great-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jason Lenz, Charles Barnes, Phillip Smallwood, Keenan Lewey, David Brown and Larry Lewey. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons, great grandsons, and great-great grandsons.

She was a mother, homemaker, and seamstress. Above all she loved her family the most.

Special thanks to the Doctors and nurses at ECM ICU unit and nurses on palliative care floor for the exceptional care you gave to our mother.
