William Norman  Koob, born to Kenneth and Virginia Koob (Grellner) May 19, 1940 at Christian Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. Bill was a lifelong Catholic and had great love and devotion to the Blessed Mother of Jesus. Bill enlisted in the Marine Corps in December of 1960, was a Helicopter Mechanic and Crew Chief. He served with Marine Helicopter Squadron HMM-264 Jacksonville, North Carolina, in the Cuban Missile Blockade, and evacuated U.S. citizens from Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Bill was married to Christine Witherspoon in August, 1964.

Bill was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps in March of 1965 with a Good Conduct Ribbon and the Presidential Unit Citation.

He returned to civilian life as a carpet layer and retired from Local Union 1310 in 2002.

Bill and Christine had two sons, Scott and Kenneth. The family moved to Lorimor, Iowa in 1978 to work as Production Manager for Delta Manufacturing. In August of 1982, Bill and Christine were divorced.

After a two year courtship Bill met his soul mate and asked Patricia Simmerman (Smith) to marry him. They were wed in August of 1984. Patricia had three daughters, Michelle, Stacy, and Shawna. Bill took the girls as his own and was now the dad of 5 children.

The family moved to Orlando, Florida in 1988 to take a job with Composite Craft, a company that produced aircraft parts and radio controlled race cars. Bill retired from Composite Craft in 2000. Bill and Patty lived in Florida until April 2013, when they moved to Russellville, AL to be closer to the majority of their grandchildren.

Bill was preceded in death by his father, mother; brother-in-law, Joseph Muehling, and his first wife, Christine.

 Bill is survived by his wife Patricia; sons, Scott and his wife, Mary of Palm Bay, FL, and  Kenneth, of Philadelphia, PA; daughters, Michelle Guinan, of Gallatin, TN, Stacy Litteral of Phil Campbell, AL, Shawna Simmerman and her partner, Heidi Courtenay, of Orlando, FL, and ex son-in-law, Gary Guinan of Gallatin, TN; grandchildren, Rebekah, Bethany, Jacob Litteral, of Phil Campbell, AL, Kaley Guinan, of Lafeyette, TN, Mandee Guinan, of Gallatin, TN, and Darby Koob of Palm Bay, FL; sister, Georgann Muehling of O’Fallon, MO and brother, Edward Koob and his wife Susan of Wentzville, MO.

God was gracious to Bill.

A memorial mass will be Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at The Good Shepherd  Catholic Parrish of Russellville, AL.
