Obituary

Barbara T. Masterson, formerly of Huntsville Alabama, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2023, after an extended illness. 

She is preceded in death by her beloved son, Brian Masterson.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Janet Sexton (Scott) of Avondale Estates, GA, and son Stephen Masterson (Tanya) of Santa Barbara California.  She is also survived by three grandchildren who were the joy of her life, Shelby Sexton, Ben Sexton, and Sydney Masterson.

Born on October 24, 1944, Barbara lived her life largely in care of others.  First as a dedicated mother to her children, and later in life as a nurse.  She was employed by UAB clinic in Huntsville where her colleagues fondly referred to her as a wonderful caring nurse with a good heart.

Barbara was not only a skilled nurse but also a treasured friend to many.  Her time in Huntsville, Alabama was marked by the deep connections she formed, creating friendships that spanned decades and lasted through her final moments on this earth.  The family wishes to thank all of those who loved and supported Barbara through the years.

An informal graveside service to celebrate Barbara’s life will be held August 24, 2023 at 11:00 at Colbert Memorial Gardens.  She will be laid to rest next to her cherished son, Brian.

Barbara’s generous nature and delicious holiday meals will be remembered by her family forever.  She will be deeply missed.
