Betty Highfield Obituary

Betty Ruth Highfield, 82, of Sheffield, AL passed away Sunday, January 31, 2021. Due to Covid 19 live streaming via Facebook at Colbert Memorial there will be a private service for the family Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at 11 a.m. Ronny Poag and Zach Thompson will be officiating. Burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens.

She was a member of York Bluff Baptist Church and a member of Billy Ray Pennington and Gary Jordan Sunday School Class. She loved the Lord with her heart, mind, and soul. She loved family, enjoyed gardening, and Alabama Football. She was the whisper of the leaves as you walk down the street, the smell of certain foods you remember, the flowers you pick, the fragrance of life itself. She is the breath of fresh air, the sound of rain that lulls you to sleep, the colors of the rainbow, she is Christmas morning. Mother lives inside our laughter every day. She is the place we came from, our first home, and the map we follow with every step we take. She was our first love, our first enemy, but nothing on earth can separate us. Not time, not space, not even death.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Nettie Askew; husband, Billy Highfield; four brothers and two sisters; she was the youngest of seven children.

She is survived by her sons, Gary Highfield (Shannon) and Dan Highfield (Tammy); granddaughter, Hope Highfield; grandsons, Chris Highfield and Nick Highfield (Emily); step grandsons, Kyle, Zack, Nick Hester; and step granddaughter, Rachel Pendergrast (Thomas); great grandchildren, Parker, Owen, Lily Highfield, Ethan, Connor, Chloe Pendergrast; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Chris Highfield, Nick Highfield, Kyle Hester, Zack Hester, Nick Hester, and Marty Moore. Her beloved nephews and grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Special thanks to Becky Johnson, Teresa Thorne, and Kindred Hospice.

In lieu of flowers donations to be made, all flowers can be sent to York Bluff Baptist Church.
