Dwight Jefferies Obituary

Dwight Richard Jefferies, 65, Florence, AL went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 4, 2023, after an extended illness. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 7, 2023 from 12-3 p.m. at Colbert Memorial Chapel with a graveside service to follow in Colbert Memorial Gardens. Brother Bobby Amos will be officiating.

He worked 37 years for Colbert County as a park caretaker. He loved crappie and bass fishing. He was an avid Alabama fan. He never met a stranger and loved joking around with everyone. He dearly loved his grandchildren, taking them fishing and hunting, and listening to Alexie sing. He can never be replaced with anyone. We just have to enjoy the memories that he left us.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Brenda Parrish Jefferies; his mother, Ledia Ray Jefferies; daughter, Tessa Jefferies; grandchildren, Braden Jefferies (Evie), Miguel Jefferies, Tideus Willis, Alexie Jefferies; great grandson, Alastor Jefferies; sister, Karan Franks (Scott); brother-in-laws, Paul Parrish (Jan), James“Dude” Parrish (Jackie), and James Smith; sister-in-law, Faye Parrish; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence “Sonny” Jefferies; sister, Shirley Jefferies Hunt; niece, Jennifer Hunt; mother and father-in-law, Adelee and Leonard Parrish; brother in laws, Jerry “Dubby” Parrish and William Parrish; and sister-in-law, Carol Smith.

Pallbearers will be Braden Jefferies, Brian Gooch, Tanner Gooch, Roger Melton, Micah Nash, and Garry Moses. Honorary pallbearers will be friends of Rose Trail.

The family would like to thank Dr. Brasco, 3rd floor nurses at Helen Keller Hospital, Misty Maxwell and her nurses, Alabama Hospice of the Shoals, especially Marci, Heather, Christy, Julie, Chaplain Richard Parker, and social worker, Wyatt Jackson, and anyone else who took part in his care. We also want to thank one special niece that was always there for him, and like a daughter that he loved dearly, LeAnn Gooch.
