Frances Elise (Rutherford) Reid
June 11, 1929 ~ May 23, 2023 (age 93) 93 Years Old

Frances Elise Reid, 93, passed away on May 23, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Sheffield, Al on June 11, 1929, and attended Deshler High School.
She was a wonderful and loving mother, mother-in-law and grandmother. She was an amazing cook, baker and homemaker for her family and extended family. She was known and served as Maw Maw to many. She helped manage several family businesses including the family farm. She would later serve in the Colbert County Board of Registrar’s office. And, she loved her Atlanta Braves baseball team.
She currently attended First Southern Baptist Church and was a member of Woodward Avenue Baptist Church, both in Muscle Shoals.
Visitation will be Sunday, May 28th from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. at Colbert Memorial Chapel in Tuscumbia. The graveside service will follow at 3 p.m. with Rev. Jerry Rea officiating in Colbert Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Reid is survived by son, Wade Reid (Donna); daughters, Lisa Ruggles (Douglas), Lucy Swindle (Ryan). Grandchildren, Michael Reid (Michele), Christy McKinney, Hunter Cook (Loren), Hanna and Reid Ruggles (Hannah). Great-Grandchildren, Hartley Reid, Ann Tyler and Brady McKinney, Teddy Ruggles and Carter Cook. And a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, William A. Reid, Jr., parents, Arthur and Lyda Rutherford; brothers and sister-in-laws, Hern and Polly Rutherford, Wayne and Dot Rutherford and Alton and Ann Rutherford.
Pallbearers will be Michael Reid, Hunter Cook, Reid Ruggles, Douglas Ruggles, Ryan Swindle, Brady McKinney.
The family would like to especially thank Brad McAnalley, M.D., Jerry Williams, M.D., Jeff Goodman, M.D., Helen Keller Hospital 2nd floor staff and Hospice of North Alabama for the special care given. Also, a heartfelt thank you to a host of special care givers who loved her and cared for her these past 7 weeks.
