James "Jimmy" Wilburn Luna, Jr.

James “Jimmy” Luna, Jr.,83, of Muscle Shoals, died peacefully at home Thursday, October 26, 2023.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 from 9:30 am-11:00 am at Colbert Memorial Funeral Home with service to follow in their chapel.  Bro. Bobby Amos will be officiating.  A small graveside service will follow at 2:00 pm at the Blue Mountain Cemetery in Blue Mountain, MS.

After graduating from Blue Mountain High School, he graduated from Mississippi State University in 1962. He loved his MSU bulldogs.

He retired from Champion International Papers and was member of Woodward Avenue Baptist Church

Jimmy, being raised on a farm, remained a farmer at heart.  Any produce he raised in a small garden around his shop was shared with friends and neighbors.  He loved God and his family.  His pride and joy were his grandchildren and great-grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Hilda Luna and brother-in-law Rickey Walker.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years Kay Walker Luna, son Bill Luna (Bridgette) of Prattville, AL, daughter Lynn Farris (Jon) of Huntsville, AL, grandsons Nick Luna (Lauren), Taylor Luna, Jackson Farris, granddaughter Julia Farris, great-grandsons Rowan Luna and Wells Luna, an aunt, Jean Harrington, nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Nick Luna, Taylor Luna, Jackson Farris, Zach Haygood, Daniel Burns and Casey Epperson.

Special thanks to the Muscle Shoals Fire Department, Amedisys Home Health and Hospice, Dr. Robert Dickson, Dr. Jerry Williams, Dr. Brett Barlow, the nurses at Helen Keller Hospital, Huntsville Hospital, Clearview Cancer Institute, friends and neighbors.
