Linda Kenney Obituary

Linda Dianne Donahue Kenney, 75, of Cherokee, AL. passed from this earth on April 7, 2024.

She was born on April 22, 1948 in Hartsville, S.C. to Labon Curtis (LC) Donahue and Laura Ann (Polly) Smith Donahue.

Preceded in death by Father, Labon Curtis Donahue and Mother, Laura Ann Donahue.

For those left behind to cherish her memory; Husband of 28 years, Danny Kenney.

Daughters: Kymberly Smith, Shannon Hamilton Sumerel (Michael), Saundra Montgomery (Jason).

Grandchildren: Maggie Adams (Justin), Asia Hester (Katherine), Matt Foster (Amber), Colt Hester, Nichole Sumerel, Hanna Kikta, Abby Kikta, Jaden Bretherick.

Great Grandson: Nash Adams.

Linda Dianne earned her Bachelor's degree in Biology at the University of North Alabama. Her love of all things outdoors, coupled with her studies, developed into a passion for geology. Although she was older than most college students, her maturity allowed a focus of concentration into an adventure of knowledge. Some of her best college memories revolved around summer classes at Dauphin Island studying marine biology. Prior to college, she worked at Franklin Homes 7 years. Upon graduation, she began her 15 year career with Saralee Corporation - Rudy's Farm/Jimmy Dean Foods in Florence, AL, from where she would retire.

She loved animals, as evidenced throughout her life having numerous pets including dogs, cats, turtles, rabbit’s, chickens, and a special red tailed hawk named Cherokee. She, as her father, cherished her heritage affiliated to American Catawba Indians and traveled throughout South Carolina with her beloved father visiting many Graveyards and Cemeteries in search for their distant relative's final resting place.

She embodied the best of qualities: Unconditional love, strength of sprit, and a giving hand of generosity. She was a big-hearted woman accepting everyone with compassion and love. She had immense passion to God, Family, animals and all things found in nature. Her will was strong and sometimes stubborn along with an enormous heart and wonderful sense of humor.  As she will be missed and remembered by the many lives she touched. May she rest in peace.

She was a member of Valley Grove Baptist Church. Her love for her Church Family was immense, along with her acceptance of Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.

Visitation will be from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. at Valley Grove Baptist Church on Saturday, April 13, 2024 with a service to follow at 1 p.m. Bro. Ted Vafeas and Bro. Greg Beasley will be officiating.
