Martha Cummins Obituary

Martha “Nadine” Cummins

May 1, 1945 - Dec 15, 2021

RUSSELLVILLE - Nadine Cummins was born on May 1, 1945 in Russellville, Alabama to LJ and Elizabeth Askew. Nadine passed away on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at 9:35 a.m. at her home in Russellville, Alabama surrounded by her grandchildren, following a short battle with Metastatic Small Cell Carcinoma.

Nadine was preceded in death by her parents, Lj Askew (Marie) and Elizabeth Askew; her brother, Kenneth Askew, her granddaughter, Amanda Cummins, and her husband, James “Jim” Bernard Cummins.

Nadine is survived by her two sons, James Craig Cummins and Terry Jackson Cummins (Mary); two grandchildren, James Ray Cummins (Ashley) and Tamara Cummins Perea (Juan); six great-grandchildren, Brian Perea, Gavin Cummins, Mason Cummins, Briana Perea, Anthony Perea, and Emily Perea; her “longtime, canine companion” Bo; extended family Kim, Wendy, and Belle, along with a host of other relatives, family friends, and community helpers.

She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future. - Proverbs 31:25

Nadine answered the call every day to help those in need and to love without limits. Through many trials and unnecessary tribulations, she never lost her faith and always retained her kind heart, generous spirit, and a wicked sense of humor, despite her circumstances.
