Peary Allen Willard

Peary Allen Willard, age 80, of Muscle Shoals passed away Monday, October 2, 2023.  The visitation will be Thursday, October 12th from 12-1 at Colbert Memorial Chapel with the service following at 1 PM in the chapel.  Officiating will be Patrick and Leshia Burt and Steve McFall, with music by Mel Deal.  The burial will follow at Colbert Memorial Gardens.

Peary was preceded in death by his parents, Peary and Virginia Chappelle Willard and his in-laws Isaac, III, and Mary Crosthwaite Johnson.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Paula ‘Bunny’ Johnson Willard; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Beth Johnson and Alex N. Latifi; his nieces Amanda Latifi (Ben Miller), Alexis Casselano (Jerry), Meaghan Amini (Neema) and his nephew Alex R. Latifi.  He is also survived by great nephew Miles Amini and great nieces Marlowe Miller, Nola Amini and Quinn Casselano.  Peary is also survived by his kitty Nibs.

Peary grew up in Greensboro, NC and was a graduate of North Carolina State University with a BS degree in electrical engineering and was a lifelong Wolfpack fan.  He was hired by Reynolds Metals, Alloys Plant where he met Bunny. He worked as an electrical engineer for 33 years and enjoyed retirement for 24 years.  Peary had many hobbies and interests and was knowledgeable about all of them.

Peary's family would like to thank Dr. Joshua Vacik and his staff, Brian Scheri and his staff at Mitchell Hollingsworth and Helen Keller Hospital for his care.

Pallbearers will be Alex R. Latifi, Ben Miller, Jerry Casselano, Jim Balch, Ryan Balch, Steve Stanley, Randy Hester, Tom Thompson and Billy Thigpen.  Honorary pallbearers are Alex N. Latifi and Phil Kingsley.

In lieu of flowers please consider a memorial to HASRA, Meals on Wheels, the Muscle Shoals Public Library or the Salvation Army.
