William Anderson Lyndon, 88, of Sheffield, AL passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2023. A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 23, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Colbert Memorial Gardens.
Bill was born December 20, 1934 in Knox County, Tennessee to Edmond Nash and Pearl Lois Lyndon and grew up in Oak Ridge. He served as a paratrooper in the Army and during his three years in service, made thirty-seven parachute jumps before he landed in a plane. He graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in mechanical engineering and spent the next twenty seven years working at TVA in Muscle Shoals, AL. He liked the Dallas Cowboys, the Atlanta Braves, and his beloved Tennessee Volunteers. He enjoyed turkey and deer hunting, woodworking, vegetable gardening, knife making, and golfing. He was a member of Cypress Lakes Golf Club and the Quarterback Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edmond and Pearl Lyndon; sisters, Nancy Sue and Carolyn Ann; brothers, Donnie Ray, Eddie, Jerry, and Ronnie; and grandson, Barry.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Nancy; daughters, Lisa, Sherri (Tom), Laura and Leah (Mark); grandchildren, Tonya (Stephen), Brian, Rachel (Trent), Chris (Sandy), Kayla, Hannah (Michael), David, and Sarah; great grandchildren, Lyncoln, Jules (Christian), Sam, Gracie, Katie, Gus, and Lilly; great great grandchildren, Westyn and Kingston; brother, John (Ann); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family will serve as pallbearers.
