I knew Carroll through our 35th Division connection. He remembered addressing a group of replacement infantrymen who arrived to fill in the ranks of Co. F of the 134 IR, after the company was nearly wiped out at Flavigny Bridge. My father was one of the replacements. He was killed 19 days later. Carroll and I met in person once and corresponded for many years. He had nearly total recall of military actions in which he participated. He impressed me by his decency, devotion to work, devotion to Maxine and to his faith. We shared the same Presbyterian tradition. He surely earned his just reward, but I am sad to learn of his death. My grandfather served with Sgt. Crouch in WWII. My father contacted Sgt. Crouch prior to my grandfather's passing to reunite the two men. I want to thank Sgt. Crouch's family, on behalf of my family, for his service and dedication to his men at the Battle of Flavigny Bridge in France. Our prayers are with you.

In spirit, I join with you in celebration of Carroll Crouch's faith and life, at one time a valued parishioner, with his and Maxine's children, and a lifelong friend. I pray grace and peace with all of you in the name of our loving God, whose love for each of us is eternal, and in whose love we eternally rest!
