Melissa Bowers Nelson, age 34, of Sheffield, Al, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2015. Visitation will be Friday, July 31, 2015 from 5:00 PM-7:00 PM at Colbert Memorial Chapel. Service will be Saturday, August 01, 2015 at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church at 1:00 PM with burial to follow .Bro. Guy Estave will be officiating. She was a lifetime member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. Melissa worked at Bank Independent in Leighton for 5 loyal years.
Preceded in death by mother, Brenda Counts Bowers; grandparents, Jessie and Polly Counts, Howard and Lonnie Bowers; special aunt, Patty Bowers Sprague.
Survivors are husband of seven wonderful years, Michael Nelson; father, Billy Bowers; sisters, Sharon Bowers Hopson (Michael), Lynn Bowers Vandiver (Daniel); nephews, Tyler Henson (Tasha), Jay Vandiver ; niece, Courtney Vandiver Raybon (Matt); great nephew, Jordan Tyler Henson; and a host of loving friends.
Pallbearers will be George Crittenden, Michael Kennedy, Lanny Wright, Tyler Powell, Tyler Henson, Justin McCrary, Kevin Counts, and Jay Vandiver.
Special thanks to the full staff of UAB Hospital, JW Sommer Rehabilitation Center staff, ECM ICU and CTRU nurses for the care given to our dear loved one. Memorials may be made to Bank Independent Trust Fund to The National Organization for Rare Disorders including Buerger’s Disease.
